Mohammed Sami
Mohammed Sami’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands is on view at KM21 in The Hague, the Netherlands through June 29, 2025.
Sami's enigmatic, suggestive paintings explore the unreliability or fragility of memory. Although his scenes never show figures, a human presence is always palpable, whether it concerns claustrophobic domestic interiors, ghostly landscapes or loaded everyday objects. In his work, Sami draws on personal experiences and memories. At the same time, the ambiguity of the images allows them to transcend the individual and refer to universal feelings of melancholy, mourning, longing and displacement.
