A solo exhibition of work by Christina Forrer will be presented at the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art.

Forrer creates narrative textiles inspired by classical tapestries that address historical and mythological themes. The artist's own weavings and drawings depict fantastical, psychologically charged scenes focused on familial relationships that explore motherhood, domestic anxieties, and inherited trauma. Other animated compositions focus on the tentative relationships among humans, animals, and nature, as well as spectacular acts of religious fervor. Influenced by her Swiss homeland, Forrer incorporates elements of folklore, folk art, and local stories of Christian martyrs. Her MATRIX exhibition includes similarly inspired objects curated by the artist from the Wadsworth’s collection.

For more information about the exhibition, please visit the Wadsworth Atheneum's website.
