Mohammed Sami’s 23 Years of Night (2022) is on view at the Carnegie Museum of Art’s ongoing signature exhibition series, A History of the Carnegie International.
The International has showcased works by nearly 5,000 artists from approximately 60 countries that have entered the Carnegie’s collection. Although the frequency, format, and focus have changed over time, the series continues to reach across geographies to bring together art, people, and ideas. Eschewing an art historical chronology, this reinstallation focuses on topical investigations that bring together works from a range of time periods, geography, cultural traditions, and disciplines. Sami’s “23 Years of Night” is presented alongside a dynamic range of works, acquired from the very first iteration of the International In 1896 to the most recent in 2022.
