Luhring Augustine is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new works by the Brazilian artist, Tunga, at the Frieze Art Fair in London (booth B9).

Exploring realms of the surreal, Tunga’s artistic process involves juxtaposing incongruous objects to create experiential works. Often using recurring elements such as canes, lamps, braided hair, nets and glass vessels, Tunga creates a self-referential world where different contexts impart new meanings to familiar objects. The ideas of metamorphosis and order verses chaos are also repeated notions throughout his oeuvre. The artist’s work takes a variety of forms such as performance, monumental and discreet sculpture, drawing and photography.

Two large scale installations by Tunga entitled Laminated Souls and At the Light of Two Worlds are on view at PS1’s MOMA in New York through October and January 2007 respectively.
