FIAC 2017 – Place Vendôme - Oscar Tuazon – A Water Column - Art Fairs - Luhring Augustine

During FIAC 2017 Oscar Tuazon will present Une colonne d’eau, a new large-scale project for the Place Vendôme, Paris. This installation comprises four sculptures, each of which is constructed out of PVC pipe, originally used to transport water, and tree trunks cut from Paris’ Bois de Vincennes. Stemming from Tuazon’s interest in the municipal infrastructure of water, these recycled pipelines represent “an architecture of water made visible, un pavillon de l’eau évaporé, a horizontal water monument.” Viewers are able to enter the structure, which is bisected by the tree trunks, and experience the environment created by Tuazon both internally and externally. This project is collaboratively supported by Chantal Crousel, Paris, Eva Presenhuber, Zürich, New York, and Luhring Augustine, New York and will be on view from October 16 – November 9, 2017.
